Bookkeeper | New York, NY (Midtown) | Hybrid – Mon, Tue & Fri Onsite | Pay: $33–$40/hr | 3+ Month Temp

About the role

A well-established, vertically integrated affordable housing developer and operator is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to cover a leave of absence through Q1. This is a hybrid role working directly alongside the CFO and Treasury Manager within a 20-person accounting department. The right candidate has strong construction and/or real estate bookkeeping experience and is proficient in Acumatica.

What you'll actually do

• Maintain accurate books and financial records across development and construction projects
• Support the Treasury Manager with day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting operations
• Process and reconcile transactions including AP, AR, and bank reconciliations
• Assist with month-end close activities and general ledger maintenance
• Support the CFO and accounting team with ad hoc reporting and financial projects as needed
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial activity within Acumatica

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of bookkeeping experience required
• Strong Acumatica experience required
• Construction and/or real estate bookkeeping experience strongly preferred, ideally on the corporate/development side
• Solid understanding of AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activity
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

A full-scale affordable housing developer, builder, and operator founded in 2004 with more than 14,000 units across 13 states and over 500 employees. The accounting team is 20 people strong — structured, experienced, and fast-moving. This role sits at the corporate level supporting development and construction finance, offering meaningful exposure to a high-impact real estate organization.

Additional details

• Location: Midtown Manhattan, New York, NY
• Schedule: Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm | 40-hour work week | Hybrid — onsite Monday, Tuesday & Friday
• Engagement: Temporary, 3+ months through Q1 (approximately January–February)
• Software: Acumatica (required)
• Reports to: CFO; works alongside Treasury Manager
• Interview process: One virtual interview with CFO → Offer/Start next week
